Party Time!

March 7, 2008

balloons.jpgHi! I’m so glad you stopped by during the Ultimate Blog Party.

Let me introduce myself. My name is T. At this stage of my life I’m trying to balance being a wife, mother of a three-year old and working full time as a software engineer. This is where I dump those pesky thoughts that keep me up at night… I need all the sleep I can get! (Surely most of you can relate to this, right?)

Wait! Don’t go yet! You haven’t had a chance to get to know me yet. First there is my 100 Things page. If lists aren’t really your thing I went through the trouble of going through my archives this week and creating a list of some of my favorite posts. For you reading enjoyment I present the following:

Today’s little moment… hot tea
Choose your words carefully
Open mouth, insert tired foot
Through my daughter’s eyes
Plenty of smoke but no fire
A moment almost missed

Now, don’t forget to leave me comment because we all know that comments are the crack that bloggers live off sign the ‘guest book’ by leaving a comment so I know who’s been here. Really, it’s just common courtesy to say ‘Hi!’, even though in the part of New England I come from we tend to keep our heads low and pretend not to see or hear each other. I’ll make it easy. Just tell me who you are, where you are from and your favorite way to unwind after a long day let’s try something else today…  what is the best cartoon character of all time.  (I’m quite partial to the Cheshire Cat in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland - there’s something about his mischievous smile while singing Jabberwocky that I can relate to.  Another favorite… Mindy from Animaniacs.  She is so the quintessential toddler!)

Oh! Have you taken a look at all the party favors that are available. My goodness!! There are so many to choose from. My top three picks are:

  • #107 - I’d Princess would love one of the 7 Pink Brick Box play sets, in honor of the 7 day long Ultimate Blog Party! that is up for grabs from LEGO® - Honey and I are both software engineers so anything LEGO® is always welcome. Unless it is discovered by a bare foot during a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
  • #76 - These tutus and bows are so adorable - perfect for my Princess or yours.
  • # 29- Somehow I’ll find a way to choose between a bracelet for me or my little girl.

But, really, I could go for 112, 31, 9, 28, 57, 48, 51, 8, 20, 78, 117, 60, 107 or anything else that helps me show off my baby girl, feeds my coffee addiction or in some way helps me be a better mother to my Princess or more wonderful wife to Honey.

Thanks for the ‘crack’, err, comment. As far as the comment on my blog, yes we have an electric stove. The previous owners didn’t and never capped it properly. Nice, huh?

  • 4. Happy Mama  |  March 7, 2008 at 5:06 pm

nice party. Nice to meet you.

    I’ll check out your 100.
    Party on!

You’re right. Comments are a blogger’s crack! :-) And since no one in NE says hello, let me say “Howdy ya’ll” from Tennessee! Great party!

  • 8. Ivanhoe  |  March 7, 2008 at 7:49 pm

    Hello there:
I am from Ohio, but guess what is my favorite NFL team? You got it - Pats!
How to unwind? I like reading books, watching some TV shows (CSIs & Ugly Betty) and scrapbooking.
Thanks for having me… and have fun partying.

  • 9. Rebecca  |  March 7, 2008 at 8:41 pm

Howdy! I’m Rebecca. I’m from the Atlanta area. And to unwind? You’re pretty much looking at what I do to unwind.

    Thanks for the party! :)

  • 10. Wendy  |  March 7, 2008 at 8:51 pm

Just wanted to drop in and say “hi”. Hope you’re having fun at the party.

  • 11. Mom  |  March 7, 2008 at 8:53 pm

You requested comments so I re-read your favorite posts.
“Today’s little moment” brings memories of a tiny little baby with icicle digit for fingers.
“Choose your words carefully” & “Open mouth, insert tired food” proves the great parents you and Honey are. Too many parents these days do not take the time and/or notice the little things that are so important.
“Through my daughter’s eyes” reminded me that I have always said that you are a beautiful person inside and out. Maybe you will believe me now that Princess has told you.
“Plenty of smoke but no fire” makes me laugh but also a peace only a parent can have in your wonderful choice of Honey, The A.M.P.
“A moment almost missed” brings floods of wonderful memories. Your dad always wanted to do everything with us including being a Girl Scout leader. He is watching over us and will always let us know it. 
    Love & Kisses,
    Mom

Seriously, T, you got balloons just for me? How sweet. What do you mean it’s just for the party? For everyone?!

Didn’t actually see you on the list (yet) but since I’m way down there at 498, I’ve got a few to get thru. I have got to check out those prizes! We adore Legos, too. Hubbers and I work (well, I worked) in the engineering field.

Hi. I’m Cherrye and I’m from SE Texas, but I know live in southern Italy. I blog about it all over at my place.

    Unwind…unwind…what do I do?

    Bubble baths
    Troppo (too much) wine
Talking to my mom on the phone

    Ciao and happy party week!

Welcome to the party - thanks for the balloons - I’m enjoying visiting with blogging friends (old and new) and hope that you stop our place, grab a biscotti and don’t forget to grab a BIG can of Lysol, on your way out. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  • 20. Natalie  |  March 8, 2008 at 4:01 pm

Hi! I’m Natalie. I’m the mom of 2 little girls. We live in the boonies of Colorado. Come visit my party if you get a chance! :)

  • 21. Deana  |  March 8, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Great to meet you! I’m from Ohio. I don’t actually unwind: I stay up until I collapse in bed exhausted and wake up a few hours later and head for the coffee pot. I am what they call “high strung” and “insomniac”. I get it from my mom and she got it from her mom and my unfortunate oldest son got it from me. Love your site, BTW.

  • 22. Gloria  |  March 8, 2008 at 10:12 pm

Hi, I’m Gloria, nice to meet you :) I love comments too, I’m always so excited when I see the comment requests in my email (I moderate them because I’ve had a few spammers). I don’t really unwind per se, I either watch tv with my husband at night, or if he has fallen asleep early I sit on the computer until I get tired.

Stop by and see me when you get a chance :)
    Gloria

  • 23. Heather  |  March 9, 2008 at 12:37 am

  • 26. Blessed  |  March 9, 2008 at 1:28 am

Hi There! I’m just out blog hopping and dropping of comments wherever I go. My favorite party favor is the rocking horse, I could see my little one loving that - other than that though I had a hard time picking! Stop by my party when you get a minute!

Hi there. Nice to find new moms through the blog party. I hadn’t even seen that tutu until I read your wish list. I had to break off reading in the middle and add it to mine. :) My 3.75 year old is crazy for her ballet class and wants to wear her dance clothes every day lately.

  • 34. sprittibee  |  March 9, 2008 at 4:41 pm

“insert tired foot” So cute. I often use the phrase, “Why don’t you put your other foot in your mouth, too?” LOL

Nice to meet you in blogland. I still have to go through the party favors to see what my favorites are. I’m too busy reading and visiting to even blog on my own blog. :)

  • 35. Virginia  |  March 9, 2008 at 6:48 pm

How fun - A blog party! I was clueless but now I have even more bloggity goodness to devour this weekend.

I’m totally with you on the “open mouth, insert foot” thing. I’ve ruined good child karma by gloating more than once.

    Suburban Turmoil Blog Hopping Weekend…Virginia

  • 36. Suburban Turmoil  |  March 9, 2008 at 6:57 pm

Well, hi! Looks like you don’t need my comment. :)

But I think you should submit that “Hot Tea” post to a devotional website or publisher. It is THAT GOOD.

  • 37. Breeze  |  March 9, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’ve only gotten two visits, so yours was exciting. :) I’m definitely sticking with it this time. The other times were three or four entries and then nothing. I’ve been going strong since November this time around. :)

  • 38. Brandie  |  March 10, 2008 at 4:52 am

Hello! So nice to meet you =)
I’m Brandie. I’m from Chicago. And blogging - writing and reading them is certainly my way to unwind as well!

Hi! It’s nice to meet you!

  • 40. Natalie  |  March 10, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Happy Blog Party. I was a software engineer (but I did embedded software for a defense company) until I made the hard decision to stay at home with my daughter. Nice to meet you!!!

  • 41. Tanja  |  March 10, 2008 at 3:51 pm

I never glance down to avoid a “hi”. :-) Hey there! Nice to meet you. You must be one of those people… you know… the computer nerds. The kind of people who actually know their way around a computer well enough that people like me call you constantly and ask inane questions. :-) Happy partying!

  • 42. chris swanson  |  March 10, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Hi there nice site you have here. Happy blog party! Its nice to meet you.

  • 48. anordinarymom  |  March 11, 2008 at 12:38 pm

Happy partying! I remember loving this party last year … just didn’t catch it in time this year!

  • 49. Lips Of An Angel  |  March 11, 2008 at 6:00 pm

Thanks for stopping by, it’s nice to “meet” you! I hope you are enjoying the party! Hmmm favorite ways to unwind… a long hot bubble bath and a good book to read, lots of candles lit… and music. Among other things. I have lots of favorite ways to unwind. :p I have a soft spot in my heart for Scooby Doo… the newest show is ok but I really prefer the original Scooby cartoons. I’ll watch any of them though. :) Freakaziod was pretty amusing in it’s time, namely for the “relax-o-vision” that popped up during potentially violent scenes. My friends and I got a kick out of that. :D

  • 50. Debz  |  March 11, 2008 at 9:57 pm

Just visiting from the party, great blog you have. Hope you are meeting lots of nice people, I know I sure am. I’ll have to go have a closer look around your site while I’m here.
I’m a Peter Pan and Tink fan. I love how Pan is always so playful and Tink always tries to put him in his place, a little like parenting I guess isn’t it! I have a small little tatoo of Tink.

  • 51. Jerri  |  March 12, 2008 at 4:23 am

I loved your thing about comments being like “crack,” and I thought the New England thing was hilarious. My husband and I were up there last summer, and my husband was making “small talk” with cashiers, waitresses, & hotel people (which is a totally natural thing to do where we live). And just about everyone we talked to looked at us like we were from a different planet. lol.

  • 52. Jodie  |  March 12, 2008 at 12:11 pm

Lovely do (I’m a little tired as I’ve party hopped today but I’ll keep smiling). My favourite cartoon characters have to be Wolverine and Jessica Rabbit - what a couple they would make! I’m also partial to the new Disney cartoons Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible and Dave the Barbarian.

Hope you’ll visit my blog tomorrow when my very own party post should be up.

  • 53. Pinks & Blues Girls  |  March 12, 2008 at 2:17 pm

I just love those pinks and blues balloons!! :)

  • 58. Kelly  |  March 13, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Fun party~my little girl loved the balloons! I lurk here all the time but I’m not sure I’ve ever commented. I do want to commend you for taking the initative in your series “My Turn To Be That Someone.” You were a huge blessing to everyone on that stretch of road that day.

    Blessings~

  • 59. LA Blogger Gal  |  March 13, 2008 at 1:42 pm

Hello! I found you through Writing Her Life and her Thursday 13. And of course I had to stop by and say hello - it’s only polite, right? Nice 100 Things. If you like lists, you might want to try your hand at 101 in 1001 (mine is sitting on my old blog and I can’t access it right now, but it’s on my list of things to do).

    Thanks for the party!!

Hello, I hope I’m not too late for your blogging party! What fun balloons you have! This is so exciting, I love it all. Can I ask you a question? How did you come across your “categories” widget? Happy Friday to you! Nice to meet you.

  • 64. Theresa Shafer  |  March 14, 2008 at 2:22 pm

    Tinkerbell is my favorite.
Hello and how are you? Good to meet you. Nice party. Brought you some Rose jelly, you can use it instead of honey for your teas. It makes you feel you are in a rose garden as you sip away. Enjoy.
Got to visit other parties to get my 20 posts.
    Thank you for the invite.
